Lopez wins Nevada Student Speaking Competition

University of Nevada, Reno MBA student Juan Lopez won the Nevada Student Speaking Competition on Oct. 1. He spoke about “understanding, accepting, and embracing your ‘stutter.’” Lopez won a spot in TEDx University of Nevada on Jan. 23, 2015, and is featured in this week’s Nevada Sagebrush.

The Sontag Entrepreneurship Speaker series continues from 5:30-6:46 p.m. with a discussion about talking to customers.

Friday, Oct. 10

Food enthusiasts and aspiring restaurateurs, unite. The OCE is partnering with the Nevada Small Business Development Center and the City of Reno to host Assess, License and Launch: Restaurant Industry from 7:15-9 a.m. at Reno City Hall. The event is free and aimed at small business owners and those contemplating opening a restaurant. Be sure to register here.

The Reno Collective hosts a weekly discussion group on “How to Start a Startup” at 6 p.m. on Friday. Anyone interested in participating should attend the free sessions and request to join the discussion group on Facebook.
